Security Search Operations programme

Status training logoSecurity Search Operations for illegal or prohibited items are an essential part of any company security strategy. Future high profile international sporting events, and the current requirement for vigilance from terrorism in all areas of commercial and public life in the United Kingdom, requires quality assured search training that fully embraces the new National Occupational Standards for Security Search Operations.

Skills for Security with Status Training Services offer the Security Search Operations programme for security industry trainers who wish to train teams of security personnel in security search operations, such as carrying out systematic searches in support of specific events or as part of everyday guarding operations. Trainers must hold a minimum Level 3 teaching qualification (e.g the City & Guilds 7303)

What does the programme cover?

The four day Skills for Security accredited programme, covers the systematic security searching of people and their bags, vehicles, premises and areas, and vulnerable points within site boundaries. Trainers will be introduced to the threat from terrorism including recognising improvised explosive devices, their component parts and how they are used as a means of attack. The training involves classroom based learning and realistic search exercises culminating in practical assessments and a final multiple choice examination.

What are the benefits of this programme?

The programme provides security trainers with the necessary search skills and information to enable them to train personnel within the industry to a standard that fully embraces the new National Occupational Standards for Security Search Operations. Trainers will receive a Skills for Security search trainers certificate recognising that they have attained the necessary level of competence and licensing them to deliver training in this subject.

Successful trainers will be able to run their own programmes and will leave the course with a CD-Rom containing all necessary material, information and a centre approval form. Once approved, centres will register their courses with Skills for Security and will be subject to an annual quality review visit. Due to the nature of this course, and the requirements to ensure standards are maintained, certification is mandatory and this will form part of the centre approval.

Once trainer approval has been given to the delegate they can teach this course either in-house or as an external course. Trainers must certificate their delegates through Skills for Security. Certificates can be purchased at £12.50 plus vat each.
