Apprenticeships (providers)

If you wish to find out more about the Apprenticeships Frameworks, we have information on both Systems and Providing Security Services Frameworks for England/Wales and Scotland and contact details for the awarding bodies offering qualifications that make up the apprenticeship frameworks.

To assist training providers and companies who wish to run their own apprenticeship centre we have put together a flowchart and written guidance document on how to register as a centre to deliver Apprenticeships.  Once reviewed the provider registration form will need to be completed and submitted to Customer Service, along with the accompanying paperwork.

Skills for Security will confirm/raise any queries and, once approved, issue a centre number.  You will then be able to register apprentices following the guidance and registration form.  Your contact details will be added to the list of providers for England and Wales  or the list of providers for Scotland , for use by companies looking for apprenticeship providers.

When your apprentices have completed the framework of qualifications you will be able to apply for certificates following the guidance and application form.

If you have a need to apply for a replacement certificate the form should be completed fully and returned to Customer Relations.

We have written some generic information such as a Customer Service Statement and Complaints procedure to tell you what you can expect from us.

In addition, as a centre you are expected to ensure that Employment Rights and Responsibilities are covered with each apprentice.  Skills for Security has developed an induction guide and if you would like information on using this guide please contact Customer Relations on 0845 075 0111 or email info@skillforsecurity.org.uk

Key Skills, Proxy Qualifications and Functional Skills

Each Apprenticeship Framework outlines the requirement and exemptions for the above.

Relaxation Ruling

This ruling allows apprentices who have achieved A*  -  C GCSE English and/or Mathematics to complete their Apprenticeship framework without having to complete the Communication and/or Application of Number level 2 key skills qualifications.   This ruling was designed to encourage the Apprentice to work towards their Level 3 Key Skills in the areas of Communication and/or Application of Number or concentrate on other key skills.

Relaxations are valid for 5 years from the date of achievement of the relevant GCSE to the date of registration on the Apprenticeship Framework and further information will be found in Section 8.5 of the Key Skills Policy and Practice document.
