Information for Employers

The Leonardo Mobility Project is a new departure for Skills for Security and a 'first' for the security industry. It has been thoroughly researched and, following a visit to DBI and Bravida in Copenhagen earlier this year, we are confident that it will bring lasting benefits both to the apprentices who take part and their employers.

It's not a holiday! Apprentices will undertake full working days and will be expected to spend time in the evenings on written and video diaries of the project. Each of the three groups will be escorted by an accompanying adult whose role is to supervise the apprentices during their 'downtime' in the evenings and act as a point of contact for the group.

All apprentices who take part will attend a pre-departure training day including an introduction to DBI and Bravida, the programme of work they will undertake, some basic Danish language tuition (although the project will be conducted in English), an insight into Danish culture and full information about travel arrangements. It will also be an opportunity to get to know each other before departure and to ask any questions they may have.

There will be a celebratory event in autumn 2013 at which the apprentices will be awarded their Europass CVs.

We recognise that releasing an apprentice for two weeks can create difficulties in work scheduling but we believe that the returning apprentice will have acquired new skills, experience and maturity that will increase their value to your company. It will also provide good publicity opportunities for you and identify your company as an imaginative employer who supports the development of your staff.

Benefits for employers:
*Providing a unique opportunity for exposure to new and advanced training and techniques
*Acquiring knowledge and greater familiarity with European practices and systems not available in the UK
*Forging relationships with other European companies and organisations
*Meeting the demand for more and better quality apprentices

Benefits for apprentices:
*Acquiring new expertise and professional skills
*Increasing confidence, language and inter-cultural skills
*Applying their new skills and experience in the workplace
