Leonardo Mobility Project

The Leonardo Mobility Project with Skills for Security is a great new opportunity for fire and security systems apprentices to work in Denmark for two weeks in spring/summer 2013. Funded by the EU Lifelong Learning Programme, apprentices will work alongside Danish engineers in the Copenhagen area, learning how their methods of operation differ from those in the UK, enhancing their own skills, exchanging ideas and experiencing Danish culture as a worker, not as a tourist.

The project funding covers:

  • Support through the application process
  • International travel
  • Health & travel insurance
  • Work placement activity
  • Living allowance
  • Accommodation
  • Support
  • Certification

The experience will be invaluable for the apprentices and they will return to their employers with new skills and insights to bring to their everyday working lives. All the apprentices who complete the programme will be presented with a Europass CV at a celebration event in autumn 2013.

The project dates are:

6th - 20th April  *   20th April - 4th May  *  15th - 29th June

We are inviting apprentices who will be on programme and aged 18 or over by the proposed date of travel this year to apply for one of the remaining few places as soon as possible.

There is also an opportunity for trainers, assessors or others working in the industry to apply to become one of the volunteer accompanying adults needed for the project. Please see the How to Apply page for details.

Skills for Security's project partner in Denmark is the Danish Institute of Fire & Security Technology (DBI) and the apprentices will be hosted by Bravida, the leading company in Scandinavia for installation and maintenance of electrical, fire, security, plumbing and ventilation systems.

DBI is planning its own reciprocal programme to the UK this year in which Skills for Security will host 20 trainers from Denmark who are visiting industry partners to discover how the sector operates in the UK.
