Release date: 21st July 2009

Companies and individuals across the UK are being invited to submit nominations for the 2009 Skills for Security 'Contribution to skills development and training' awards, sponsored by NOCN.

The independent judges will be looking for a training programme or initiative that has addressed a skills need, has contributed to profitability or staff retention, improved customer service, increased the organisation's competitive advantage or helped to raise professionalism with the sector. Previous winners of this award include VSG and Federal Security Services.

David Greer, Chief Executive at Skills for Security said: "As a skills body our remit is to raise professionalism within the security industry and it is very rewarding to be able to highlight organisations that are using training/skills development to enhance their proposition and encourage higher standards within the industry. Many organisations do not realise how important industry awards can be, in helping them to distinguish themselves from competitors and raise their profile within the industry, so we urge all organisations to enter."

The deadline for entering the awards is Friday 28th August 2009, and the winners will be presented their awards at the Northern Ireland conference being held on the 14th October at the La Mon Hotel, Belfast and the England and Wales Conference, being held on the 20th October at the RAF Museum, Hendon, tickets for these conferences will shortly be available.
