Guarding companies encourage professional development

Release date: 28th August 2008

Paras Dewan, of Knightsbridge Guarding and Ian Hartwell of CIS Security are among the first security officers to complete the Security Practitioner qualification through Skills for Security and receive their NOCN Level 2 Certificates for Security Practitioners personally from David Greer, Chief Executive of the skills body.

The Security Practitioner qualification is designed for security officers who have already completed their initial training, have some practical experience of delivering security services and are now ready for further development. What makes this qualification special is that it was developed by employers in the security guarding sector, Skills for Security and Awarding bodies, to specifically meet the requirements of employers. The qualification combines workplace coaching and skills assessment, instead of attending a traditional training course, which allows you to evaluate the skills and knowledge of your security officers without disrupting their normal working routines. In addition, funding is available through the Learning & Skills Council which allows skills for security to offer this programme free of charge.

Paras Dewan, of Knightsbridge Guarding comments "I am extremely pleased to have achieved this qualification. The Security Practitioner programme has helped me to increase my skills and knowledge I now feel more confident in my abilities."

Rodney Ledger, Training Manager at Knightsbridge Guarding adds "Paras is the first of our employees who has completed the qualification as we wanted to prove to our customers that we are serious about the development of our employees. We have found this programme meets our training needs perfectly."

Presenting the certificates, Skills for Security's Chief Executive, David Greer, commented "Skills for Security are pleased to have progressed these learners through this qualification. The Security Practitioner programme is the ideal programme to up-skill your workforce with minimal cost. Congratulations go to both Paras and Ian on their achievements. This further demonstrates the levels of professionalism that can be obtained within our industry."
