Skills for Security is now recruiting for a full-time 

IT Support & E-Learning Administrator

Reporting to the Business Systems Manager, you will be responsible for:

Providing an effective I.T. support service by: carrying out preventative maintenance on client computer systems; repairing/replacing hardware and software on client computer systems; assisting in keeping the asset log, network infrastructure and other crucial documentation up to date; prioritising and resolving all I.T. support tasks in line with agreed service level agreements; changing backup tapes each day and identifying and logging service faults.


Developing and maintaining the technical aspects of the Skills for Security e-learning system by:  converting content into e-learning modules; uploading e-learning modules onto the e-learning system; configuring the e-learning system to customer’s requirements; installing security and other updates to the e-learning system to ensure the system remains stable; ensuring an effective backup and restore plan is in place and that it is tested at least quarterly; understanding the installation and other backend technical processes in order to ensure high availability of the system, and fully supporting the Skills for Security e-learning strategy.

Essential skills and abilities:

A clean driving licence
Working towards M.C.S.E. or M.C.P. or equivalent
A good understanding of Windows Server 2003, XP, Vista, Windows 7, Active Directory, offline files, switches,  corporate firewalls and VPN’s
A good understanding of MS Office 2003 suite
Previous experience in desktop and laptop installation, configuration and support
Previous experience in carrying out general administrative I.T. duties and proving I.T. support within a commercial environment
Excellent communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and offer I.T. solutions to staff members at all levels
The ability to support non-technical customers and to explain complex I.T. concepts in simple terms
High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
Ability to provide concise documentation
A positive “can do” attitude
Well organised and able to work to deadlines
Ability to quickly learn new operating processes
Self-motivated, with an ability to work alone or as part of a team

MS Exchange Server 2003
SQL 2005 Server
Backup Exec
Blackberry Server
Sharepoint, Fortinet Firewalls/VPN
DHCP, DNS, WINS, WLANS
Website hosting in a shared, dedicated and virtual environment
PHP and MySql website development
Moodle e-learning platform
Previous experience with e-learning systems
Previous experience in authoring and hosting SCORM content
