Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are not just applicable to school leavers: they are open to people in any age group. Today there are over 200 programmes available in more than 80 sectors of industry, and in excess of 250,000 apprentices.Apprenticeships blend workplace training with off-the-job study and workplace monitoring and assessment. They result in employees who hold nationally recognised qualifications gained by practical experience working in your company, not just from studying in a college. And what’s more, government funding pays the educational fees - employers are only responsible for wage costs. Skills for Security has designed apprenticeship frameworks for the Security Systems sector and the Security Guarding sector and we would be interested in talking to other sectors who are interested in accessing quality workplace training coupled with further education and resulting in national qualifications.
